Our Story
We Started Cartwheel With a Big Goal in Mind
Mani Themadathil and Stephen Wigginton founded Cartwheel in 2023 to revolutionize accounts receivable automation for the staffing industry.
Our CEO, Mani, witnessed first-hand the financial challenges staffing agencies face while working as the Chief Product Officer for a rapidly growing startup. Mani worked with a few trusted, 'go-to' staffing agencies to help him find permanent and contract talent. He was surprised when one of these agencies abruptly went bankrupt. This prompted him to dig deeper into the industry's challenges, especially thin margins and cash flow.
At the same time, Stephen was building a platform to help freelancers and individual contractors track time and get paid. Their shared insights led them to create Cartwheel–both the team and the product–with a mission to make accounts receivable effortless for staffing firms.
